Current Known Issues

Issues that are currently known to be causing problems for members include:

  • We are experiencing technical issues today, and the site has not been available at times. Our Tech Team is working hard to make sure the site is available. We apologize for the inconvenience, but at this time, we know nothing more. There is no need to contact us about this, as we're well aware that you need access to the site.

  • Suddenly can't see most images on the site? Please make sure that the URL in your browser's address bar begins with http:// and NOT https://.

  • The couchsearch parameter "Order by" -> "Person's name" gives zero results? We are aware of this and it should be resolved soon.

  • Can't see the latest posts in your groups/messages in your inbox? Please clear your browser's cache. If you need instructions on how to do this, see e.g. this wiki article.

  • Just updated your profile and don't see your changes when you go back to look at it or always see the message "Your profile has been updated. View profile..." or can't find yourself in a CouchSearch? Please clear your browser's cache. If you need instructions on how to do this, see e.g. this wiki article.

  • Received a friend request that you are unable to approve no matter how many times you try? Please try simply declining the friend request and initiating a new one yourself. If that does not work for you, please select the category "Other" below to send us a message, and be sure to include the direct profile URL for your friend (you can find this under their General Information).

Please consider that many questions have already been asked THOUSANDS of times before. That is why we have taken the time to explain such issues in the wiki and in the FAQs offered after you select the appropriate category below. Common examples include:

 

You will see the FAQs only after you select the category to which your question relates. It is thus very important that you select the correct category for your question! If you still don't find your issue listed, please consider whether a different category might be more applicable, and check to see whether there are useful FAQs there -- or simply read the wiki first, where all issues are listed on a single page. If you don't find your answer above/in the wiki/in the FAQs offered after you select the appropriate category below, then when you get to the actual contact form, please make sure you:

  • Enter the same email address that you use for your CS account. This is also where our response will be sent! Please let us know if you no longer have access to that email address!
  • Include your membername in your message (you may skip this step if you are already logged in)
  • Provide all relevant links to profiles (other than your own), pages, groups or individual group posts (click on "Permalink" for the post you are referencing and copy and paste it from your browser's address bar)
  • Tell us what browser and browser version you are using, and what operating system.
  • Do NOT contact us on behalf of a third party! We need to be able to discuss details directly with the member who is experiencing the problem! There is no requirement to be a member or to be logged in to contact us! This page (http://www.couchsurfing.org/contact.html) can be accessed by anyone with an Internet connection.

 

This information will help us address your inquiry more efficiently! And the more details you provide, the better we can assist you!

 

There is no need to copy any previous correspondence with us in your reply! If you are replying to one of our volunteers, a simple "Hi [name of volunteer who previously replied]" (we love it when you address us by name!) or "Thanks for your reply ..." is quite sufficient to let us know that you're responding to our previous message!
